The parking lot still has a lot of activity with the tractor moving boats from the barns and back lot to the mechanic shop for summer prep. Please do not enter this space with your vehicle during the week without first checking in - we have a lot of client commitments and need to ensure the space is not blocked when the mechanic needs to move the tractor.
The marina boat launch is there for our staff to use to launch client boats that are either coming out of storage/going into storage, to handle and to conduct test drives for boat sales. We offer the use of the ramp to cottagers launching their boat for the season and removal at the end of season only, or in the circumstance that a repair is required. It is not intended for regular weekly use. The last few years, we found a very awkward traffic jam leading to the narrow boat launch during the May long weekend as eager cottagers brought their boats to begin their season. Boats only launch one at a time and more than one trailer being backed down to the launch makes too much congestion but it's not easy to know if there is already a boat down at the launch until you get there. We found that being the first long weekend, a lineup of boats would arrive for launch, but there would also be pedestrians, small children, and parked cars -- making it a potentially unsafe area. This year, to avoid a potentially unsafe situation, we are going to try a new approach. For the long weekend, beginning on friday May 19th, through to Monday May 22, we ask that cottagers towing a boat and who plan to launch at the marina, please leave your vehicle on Anstruther, walk down the driveway to see staff about instructions for the "Launch Que" so that we can keep the launching safe, efficient and hopefully faster.
