We don't get out much in the summer, too much to do onsite at the Marina makes it challenging to carve out the time to do even short errands. Yesterday was the first time since last tuesday.
All through the weekend, we kept getting questions about the roadwork. We told those who inquired that Hwy 28 has been like that for months. No - it's Anstruther Lake Rd that is torn up and all gravel for about 5km we were told. Anstruther?? Really? When? We were just out last tuesday.
These conversations brought back a recall of an issue back at the Cottage Association AGM in early August, during the Mayor's address to Anstruther Cottagers, one cottager asked the roadwork budgeted for Anstruther. The Mayor advised that there was no roadwork planned and that there were other lakes in far greater need. That was the end of that conversation.
So, as I slid around over rough gravel as I slowly made my way down Anstruther Lake Road, the Mayor's response came to mind. No roadwork for Anstruther Lake Road.
If there was no work planned as of the Cottage Assoc AGM, but there was an inquiry of interest, it would have been helpful for the Town to follow up advising that the plans had changed. Unless this falls under the Township's generic "we update the public via our website" mantra. The Cottage Assoc hosted the Corn Roast a few days ago, this would have been a great forum for the Town to disseminate a message.
I left a message at the Township office yesterday (tuesday) but am still waiting for a return call. MANY cottagers have been asking about this and once we know more we will post detail.
