The Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) offers a free weekend every year to try out the trails for free. Until this year, it has always been on the Family day weekend. For 2018, OFSC has designated this coming weekend of Feb 3 and 4 as the free weekend. Be aware that a trail pass is still necessary on the free weekend but will be free of cost, go to the OFSC website for instructions.
So that's the good news...you can ride the trails for free this weekend...the bad news is...the trails are still closed. We don't have sufficient snow on the trails yet and from the look of the OFSC map, very few of the trails are open and those that are will be a significant distance from here, beginning at Pembroke but most are well past. click here for OFSC website www.ofsc.on.ca/ While Anstruther Marina is open for business if you require fuel or if you want to make an appointment to purchase a boat, the restaurant remains closed until the trail is officially open.
