While driving south one year, we asked our server at a restaurant near Savannah about the area, it just happened to be March 17th. Go to the river she said, you need to see it, it is green for St Patrick's day, dyed green for tourism we understood.
Well, St Patrick's day really should be in May on Anstruther. Everything here is green including the surface of the lake (though not like the river in Savannah). Want to have a seat on your patio chair, grab a damp paper towel first or your clothes will be green too. Arrive with a white car, it'll be green by the time you leave and you're going to need to use your windshield wipers the window will be so green you won't see out. Pollen is everywhere. Maybe it's just that it's been a whole year since we've seen it last but it really feels like it's much thicker than normal. Not a good sign at all for allergy sufferers. The upside to all of this is the lilacs are in bloom, all the trees have filled in the landscape and the rainfall has left us with lush green grass. The grass is very green but also tall after only a few days after cutting so if you haven't been up to cut it for the first time yet, it will take patience and time.
