We have snow in case you are wondering. South of Young's Point it is skimpy as you drive further south towards toronto there was practically none to be seen.
Without a major snowfall or two (or five) we won't be seeing trails open for a while. We also have ice as you can see in the photo, so having ice, we are lucky. Katchawanooka (the lake that is to the west of the bridge that you cross at Youngs point, is completely open, maybe 5% ice remains at shore. All that said, we measured yesterday and have about 10" still (50' out from the gas dock), hard to believe with the very mild sunny springlike days we've had over the past week. Please do not rely on this measurement, the thickness will vary across the lake and it could be much thinner in other areas. Please be cautious as the conditions are very odd this year. As always, by announcing the thickness at the marina is not our endorsement of safety. Family Day weekend is in another week...a very different year this will be.
