The Deputy Fire Chief called this morning to alert us that there is a burn ban in the Township of North Kawartha effective today.
Until the ban is lifted, no new permits will be issued.
The heatwave and humidity is finally over but we still have lots of summer ahead of us.
Connelly's Party Cove Island is a great addition to the waterfront. Anchor it in water that is a good depth for diving and use it to lie on, jump into the water, swim to it from the dock. Roll it up and store it in your shed at the end of the weekend.
Now available at Anstruther Marina 705-656-4783
Well if you haven't melted yet, you must either be floating in the water or sitting inside an air conditioned cottage. It is a sweltering 34 degrees inside my non air conditioned office, outside is little better at 32.5 and in the sun it feels much worse. Can't complain too much, better than rain or snow.
Enjoy the day!

If you are reading this, you're on the Anstruther Marina website and chances are, you've already checked the webcam on the main page. If you haven't, you might be happy to hear that it is working again. Apologies for the delay in fixing it, we did hear from many about the frozen screen fixed on the broken gas dock during the bad windstorm in May. All's good now, for those that can't get here, you can now take a quick peek at the lake via our webcam. Cheers!

Safety Kit - a legal requirement for every watercraft in Ontario whether it's a canoe or a power boat. Safety orange was the colour from past years but this year it is in bright yellow. The contents include a flashlight, rope and whistle. Note that the flashlight does not include batteries - so it is very important to add this before taking the safety kit to your boat. Have you lost your safety kit or is it time for a fresh one? We've got them, call us at (705) 656-4783

No, it really wouldn't likely mean that there are big docks nearby to land on, though Mayor Woodcock was worried that big docks could lead to helicopter pads.
No, it typically means hydro is working hard to find the lines causing a power outage. A helicopter flew over the shore of Anstruther Lake yesterday, it came so low to the parking lot that we could have expected James Bond to jump out. On Wednesday, we had a big rainstorm. The power at the marina went out at about 4pm and was restored at about 7pm the same day. Most of the rest of the lake has had power restored by yesterday except some cottages at the south end of the lake which is probably the area that Hydro was trying to remedy.
