Not much to update short of ...its getting COLD up here!
Puddles in the parking lot have turned to ice, the beaver pond on Anstruther Lake Rd has also got a thin skim of ice, the lake however is still very much water. All the leaves are long gone, taken early by a wind storm about a month ago. Hydro came thru a few days ago to trim trees along our Fire Route so presumably they went down other Fire Routes as well. While their chipping machine followed the same route to tidy up, there are small branches that were missed that you may find in the spring.

![]() Newly added to the menu under Boat Sales, you will see details and descriptions of three models of Tempest boats. Anstruther Marina began offering Tempest Boats in the early summer, 2017. You will see photos and a video of a couple of model options but we are still waiting on photos for the 192 model and hope to post some soon. Pricing of Tempest will vary depending on the motor you choose but is unbelievably affordable. For orders placed before the end of December, you can choose your paint colour, just provide the pantone colour code. Alternatively, the default colour options are great, see photos under the Tempest menu-bar. If you are considering a new boat, give us a call for prices, Tempest might be the right boat for you. Pre-order your boat before December 31st before new 2018 pricing begins. For cottagers on Anstruther...temps on the lake have been dropping and it's become cold at night. Cold enough to be concerning for IOs. We are still working through the que of boats that need to be winterized, if you have an IO and have not yet given us instructions to pull it out of the water for storage/winterization, it is very important that you do so asap.
If you don't have an IO but your boat is still in the water - your time is close too. Boat slips will soon be disengaged from shore in prep for the winter freeze. We have done this for the past few years to minimize the damage - in past when the boathouses were attached to shore, the ramps were crushed - disengaging them eliminates pressure and our repairs are reduced. Unless weather turns sooner, our goal is to do this at the beginning of December. Please ensure that your boat is gone before the beginning of December. Well, it rained yesterday at the lake and in the early evening, it wasn't quite snow but brace yourself, it's coming soon. As it fell, it got thick and heavy, might almost call it wet snow rather than rain though it didn't stay on the ground.
It has been getting colder at night, our outdoor furnace is now fired up for the season. For all the winter enthusiasts, we got an email from OFSC with a reminder that discounted trail passes are available until Nov 1st and will be available at regular price as of nov 2nd. Their email included this detail; Regular Seasonal Permit Fee $270. Prices go up at 12 am EST on November 2nd, 2017. Your Order must be completed and checked out by this time. Ontario law requires a 2018 Snowmobile Trail Permit to access OFSC prescribed Trails. |
