Time to invest in a generator if you are on the North end, seems like power failure is happening a lot lately. As I walked into the store this morning I heard a repetitive beeping, it was a hydro vehicle backing up at the ramp to launch a boat. 28 properties have no hydro.
Looks like the last post was somehow deleted so I'll try it again...
Occasionally we have people come to the restaurant by plane. The first time it happened, the pilot told us he enjoyed his meal very much but it was the most expensive breakfast he ever had. Humor, at $7.49 with a bottomless coffee, our prices are similar to other restaurants ... he clarified, both the meal and the price were great, the cost to get to the meal was the expensive part. Before he left, he promised to return for a '$100 burger'.
Yesterday another plane brought a couple of people for lunch but lunch was an afterthought, their purpose in coming here was to pick up a boat. Someone from Apsley had sold it to them and Anstruther was the meeting spot. So how does a plane move a boat? It was a folding boat and after lunch the boat was loaded onto the plane and flew off to it's new home.
Want to see a group of visiting planes? In the winter when the lake was frozen, we had 8 planes land and come for lunch, a flying club. See a picture under our page of photos.
Our rain forecast was limited to less than 1/2 hr of rain, though it's been humid, we have enjoyed sunshine most of the day. Great weather for Father's day.
Happy Father's day to all Anstruther dads.
Power outage in the northwest side of the lake from about midnight onward. Hydro has been notified.
Cleaning up the fall leaves and planning on burning them? Any outdoor burning in the Township of North Kawartha requires a burn permit. Burn Permits are available at the office of Anstruther Marina. There is no cost for the burn permit but you do need to fill out a form, one copy you keep, the other copy is picked up by the Fire Department to have on file.
If you an Anstruther cottager from the north end, your cottage may not have power. We have had several 'northerners' call to report the outage. The rain has stopped and hopefully the forecast for we will have good weather for the weekend as forecast.
Anstruther Lake has been profiled in the June issue of Cottage Country Connections. The link for it is; http://www.connectionnewspaper.com/?p=3431
