This will be the last 'ice update'. There is no more ice, it's was all gone when we woke up this morning. Just got power back -- high winds and rain knocked it out for about 4 hrs. FYI. Not sure how far the outage went beyond us. We are thankful to finally see rain instead of snow. Our next step is to get the barge and gas docks installed and do repairs on damaged slips/boathouses. Then we will start to launch boats and install cottager docks who have asked. Please contact us a day or two before you plan to come up so that we can check on the status of your boat.
One day has made a huge difference. The wind is blowing but in a good direction today. we have a huge gap of water running across the lake in a zigzag now, this wasn't there a few hours ago.
The ice is not being kind to us, the wind is strong and coming from a very bad direction today pushing at the boathouses. Boathouse A is taking a beating. You can see the damage to the crunched ramp in the pic. We tried going onto the lake in the work pontoon to crush it but it's still too thick (about 9"). There are long cracks running across the lake from the pressure forcing parts to break.
Taking the opportunity to post something other than the (yup still frozen) status of the lake...we are expanding our dock advertisements to a publication called Cottage Country Connections (CCC) which will be available in the marina free of charge beginning in May. CCC also has an online version of past issues that you can view from their website. Anyone follow "Colin and Justin" from the cottage life tv's "Colin and Justin's cabin pressure"? Colin&Justin apparently approached CCC asking if they would profile their cottage makeover, see this in the current CCC issue. Very cozy.
http://www.connectionnewspaper.com/ It was a chilly 2 degrees this morning, april 15th 2015 but the sun is out and we are hoping today will be the third day in a row for high teen temps. This weather is beautiful and is moving along the ice progress. The ice is very slushy on top but there is still a thick solid chunk under it. We have about 10' of water at shore's edge and some of the ice has broken off into icebergs. Water levels are very low, down several feet from the norm. Check on the webcam link from the main page to see a current pic of the lake.
