Errands called for a trip to Peterborough today and on the way there were two construction zones on Hwy 28 (and 2 radar zones). Not a long delay today but it may be a lengthy job, it's work on the bridges.
Last year's construction on hwy 28 caused significant delays. It also somehow resulted in the reconstruction of the entrance onto Anstruther Lake Road. Botched reconstruction at that. Many people have commented on how tight the entrance is now, it is much narrower than it was previously-almost a setup for an accident. We spoke with the Roads dept with the Township, they have contacted the MTO. We also understand that the Cottage Assoc may have also contacted MTO. We know nothing further in terms of the date for the 'fix' but it is our understanding that it rests with MTO.
The last piece of road news...last summer, our mayor, Rick Woodcock attended the ALCA annual general meeting. A question came up about the road resurfacing that was about to start on Anstruther Lake Road. Mayor Woodcock's reply was that there was no work to be done, this road is in great shape and if anyone's road needs attention, it is his own. Apparently there was a project on the roster that he was not aware of. The following week, cottagers came in to advise that Anstruther Lake Road was torn up and all asked if we knew how long it would take to complete. Call the Mayor's office we suggested. As we all noticed, the entire stretch was resurfaced up until the public launch. Well, looks like they are finishing it up now. We don't know why it's 10 months later. At this point, the road surface has that same loose gravel that was put on the rest of Anstruther back last August. It takes time for it to sink in so drive with caution, it can be slippery.
