Lost canoe has been found. We have had strong winds over the past few weeks and it seems that even something heavy like a canoe can be pushed into the water off a dock. The cottager is relieved and thankful for the quick response we had via facebook.
Lost -- cottager from the south end across from Penny Island (? is that right?) is missing a canoe. Cottager was last up on the long weekend. The canoe had been on the dock and the concern is that there have been strong winds a few times since and if it had been knocked over it may have landed on someone's shore. It is deep red, brand is Old Towne and is only 3 years old. The cottager would be very thankful to have it back. If anyone sees this, let us know at the Marina and we will connect with the cottager. Thanks
This time of year is hard to get away for parents of school aged kids, there are sports events that are finishing up, school events and graduations that keep people from the cottage. The bugs are usually a good reason to choose to stay away.
The parking lot was fairly empty so the lake was quiet. For those who made it up, this past weekend was spectacular. Night was chilly but the weather was beautiful and there was a breeze to take care of the bugs.
We've heard that when you're not here - you are keeping an eye on the lake through our webcam.
We haven't heard the news on tv or the radio in...?... can't remember how many days...we have no time.
Late afternoon, we received a few emails of concern from cottagers who have gotten weather updates on their way home from the long weekend. We are told that the reports have tornado warnings for Bancroft. All is good here. Very peaceful actually. We did have a couple of very strong bursts of rain in the afternoon - not a good day to be a paddler - yup - there were a few out there still. Rain is gone now and the lake is really flat. If you haven't looked at the webcam lately, check to see it in real time. It was so peaceful, I took a screenshot of the webcam a few minutes ago.
We had them a few years ago on the outside of the building but we used Bugtek and it works great. Bugtek is available in the Marina store.
The season has officially begun. Black flies arrived a few days ago and were just annoying...now they are annoying and hungry. So thats the bad news. The good news is...if you are their next meal... at least you're at the lake enjoying your cottage.
